Split Families Carnival Float (1976)

“Splitting Families is Splitting the Community”
The Education Street Action Group ran a successful campaign to overturn the Shropshire County Council decision to transfer Sutton Hill children from the local Alexander Fleming School to another primary school outside the estate. This meant that families would have had young children in two different schools. We designed, printed and distributed a campaign poster, made a video record of the group’s progress and constructed this 15ft high float which we took to the Sutton Hill and Madeley Carnival.
