Abracadabra at the May Day Celebrations (1978)

Abracadabra are a street performance group who combine the elements of theatre, mime and clowning and encourage audience participation in their shows.
Also on the programme at this year’s Celebration was a photographic and poster exhibition about local issues, past, present and future and Jowl, Jowl and Listen Lads, an original variety show with songs and sketches devised by miners from the Hemheath Colliery, Stoke. We also celebrated the success of the campaign for a Sutton Hill Nursery school! Like most of the Visiting Artists, Abracadabra ran a ‘master class’ with our workshop groups.
