Created by the Sutton Hill Fabric Group, this soft sculpture shows women in the dole queue. It suggests that the official unemployment figures in Telford in the late 70’s and early 80’s (over 20%) are a huge underestimate as they do not take into account the many women working in their homes. Some women from the workshop have now insisted on their right to register as unemployed and thereby receive benefits in their own right.
