The Diggers Theatre Company’s performance of Welcome to the New Jerusalem is taking place outside the Oakengates Theatre just before the arrival of the People’s March for Jobs. In the play, several real life experiences are re-told. Like the man who has to commute to Smethwick for work: ‘We had to say goodbye to Telford because we couldn’t keep the car on the road’. Or the teenager frustrated by the Work Experience Programmes: ‘All I want is a proper Job!’.
Or the tenant, bitter at the discrimination against women: ‘All I get is No Jobs for women’.
