‘We do improvised scenes about our lives or things we hear about. During our weekly workshop sessions we came up with the theme of vandalism – vandalism of the mind and vandalism of the spirit’.
‘We found it very exciting to use stylised theatrical techniques to explore out ideas, for example, huge props, puppets as people, mime and movement, musical sound and rhythms’.
In this photo, Sutton Hill Community Arts Drama Group are in the process of devising Everybody Needs a Fairy Godmother.
It was suggested in the play that the effects of the education system, bad conditions at work, unemployment, our society’s view of women as sex objects and parents’ high expectations of their teenage kids were some of the causes of this vandalism.
